Memorial for Breathe With Me project, Amherst MA, Spring 2010
Each participant from the "Breathe With Me" project (see previous page) submitted passages/text/poems/quotes etc. that they found particularly meaningful. After the scripted interactions took place this memorial was created to commemorate them. The ropes hanging from the two trees were intended to create a ceremonial space. The ropes also represented each of the project's participants as their submitted passages were attached to the ropes' ends. The attached passages all hung on the ground within a circular ring of water. The water was intended to evoke connectivity and the sense that the viewer was fully entering into the piece (getting their hands wet, etc.) in order to read the pieces.
